When I consider Your heavens . . .

On Saturday, I went to a church picnic with my host family. We drove up into the mountains that surround the city and spent the morning relaxing and eating lots of delicious food!

As I lay gazing at the gorgeous view, I was completely awed and overwhelmed by the wonder of God’s creation. As Psalm 19 says, “The heavens declare the glory of God,” and I was truly amazed by the greatness of my Lord when I looked at His handiwork. Speechless and incredibly humbled, all I could do was worship such an infinite and powerful God.

The majestic mountain view clearly displayed the grandeur of the Creator, and as I sat in thought, I began to question how millions of people can gaze at that scene every day and not recognize the One who shaped it. However, the more I pondered, I realized that I, too, am guilty of “missing it”. How often do I fail to see the Lord in the splendor of His majesty? How many times do I pass up opportunities to declare His greatness to a dying world? It is a tragedy that countless people do not know the Maker of the mountains, but it is also a tragedy that I fail to proclaim the glory of His name to those that need to hear.

It is my prayer that I would not forget the indescribable glory of my Lord. His greatness only magnifies my insignificance and makes His tender mercy and patience towards a sinner like me completely mind-boggling. We have an incredible Creator. Don’t miss out on this!
