Hello and welcome to my very first attempt at a blog post! This is going to have to be short and sweet, because I am leaving for the airport in less than an hour to travel to Mexico! I am hoping to write every few days during the next several weeks to share experiences and thoughts from my trip and to let everyone know how they can be praying.
I wanted to take just a minute in this first post to explain why I chose the name for the blog. It is named after one of my favorite images in Scripture – the refining process. When a goldsmith refined gold, he would put it in an extremely hot fire, and as the metal melted, the impurities, called dross, would rise to the top. He would then scrape off the dross and return the gold to the fire. This process was repeated until the goldsmith could see his reflection in the metal. In the same way, God uses trials and suffering to remove all that mars the reflection of His image in our lives. It is my prayer that this summer would be a time of refining in my life, as the Lord continues to transform my heart and conform me to the image of Christ.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and thank you for your prayers. My next post will be from Monterrey!
Emily
